“We wanted to bite a big dog but we have failed”, - commented the chief manager of Belarus national football team Bernd Stange after the team had been defeated by Croatia in a selection match of the world championship.
Let us remind you that the match took place in Minsk yesterday. Our football players lost – 1:3. The only goal was scored by Dzmitry Verhautsou.
Stange regretted that viewers could not see Alyaksandr Hleb at his best in matches against the favourites of the group. Our captain could not compete with Englishmen due to an injury and is only regaining the necessary condition at the moment.
“We are all disappointed. We have not disgraced ourselves, we wanted to do the impossible but we failed. I am not broken-down, I have not gone into mourning, but I feel that it is over in this qualification. We should set other goals and continue our development”, - informs BelaPAN quoting Bernd Stange.
Belarus is fourth with 9 points in its sub-group now. The first place is evident: Englishmen have 21 points.
Croatians occupy the second position as they have scored 14 points thanks to their victory over Belarusians. Ukrainians are third with 11 points.
The last two places belong to Kazakhstan and Andorra - they have 3 and 0 points respectively.
