State Control to check salaries at 30 thousands enterprises
The Committee of State Control of Belarus initiated checking of the so-called "backdoor salaries". A special working group was created in accordance with the order of the Head of the Committee of State Control of Belarus Zianon Lomats.
This group includes representatives of the Committee of State Control of Belarus, the KGB, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the General Public Prosecution, the Ministry of Taxation, the Ministry of Economics, the Ministry of Social Security and Labour, and the National Statistics Committee, informs BELTA. The group will work from August 23 till September 23. The main task is to clarify the reasons why the employers pay their employees salaries which are lower than the mimimum living wage (274 510 roubles at the moment of August 1, 2010), as well as lower than 200 USD in equivalent.
According to the State Control Committee, 9,7% (446 thousand people) of the economically active population of Belarus (4 million 580 thousand people) have income lower than the minimum living wage.
The working group have counted more than 30 thousand of enterprises which pay salaries lower than 200 USD, in Belarus. At the same time, the inspectors say that there are rather big money on the bank accounts of these enterprises. Thus, there are grounds to suspect they pay "the backdoor salaries".
