State employees should have good command of both languages – A.Lukashanets

The head of the institute of linguistics of the national Academy of Sciences Alyaksandr Lukashanets claimed that scientists should appeal for a new legal act during the 1st meeting of Belarusian scientists. The thing is that the ability to speak both state languages fluently should be a must for all state employees when they are hired for state service or if they are going to work for any state organization. The scientist is sure that it will help Belarusian educational specialists bring up bilingual people who would understand the value of our country’s national and cultural priorities.

“If pupils and their parents understand that they have to be able to speak Belarusian to occupy a position in the future they will change their attitude to studies, - noted Alyaksandr Lukahsnets. – At the same time the Belarusian society will acquire people prepared for successful activities in the current multilingual and multicultural international community”.
