Statement in response to resolution
The Belarusian Parliament has made a statement in response to the European Parliament’s resolution on Belarus today. "The resolution of the European Parliament has aroused regret in Belarusian Parliamentarians and has demonstrated that the European Parliament still ignored impartial facts while shaping its position”, - is noted in the joint statement of the President’s Presidium of the Council of the Republic and of the Council of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly.
"We regret the fact that a number of Western colleagues ignored the facts and reality focusing on the emotional criticism of the Belarusian authorities’ forced actions instead of analyzing the events that took place in Minsk on December 19 and the reasons for them seriously”, - claim deputies.
They claim that policemen “had been showing restraint and had not interfered in the unauthorized manifestation until its participants and leaders turned it into an action of evident violence”.
Deputies think that the essence and the tone of the resolution adopted by the European Parliament testify that “good sense was sacrificed to emotions and the dialogue – to pressure again”, - informs BelTA.
