Strasbourg police disperse anti-Nato demonstration by firing tear gas and rubber bullets

200 people have been detained after clashes with the police in Starsbourg (France) this morning. Several thousand young people wanted to demonstrate their protest against the 2-day summit of Nato. Young people were breaking windows and crushing cars. The police had to fire tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse the crowd. France and Germany have organized the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Northern Alliance.

Demonstrators are going to organize similar actions in Kehl and Baden-Baden. They are urging to spend more money on fighting poverty rather than on military issues.

Leaders of the USA and of other alliance member states will arrive in Strasbourg and Baden-Baden today. Exceptional security measures have been taken, reports Timesonline.
