Syamashka: Gazprom has acknowledged debt to Belarus
Belarus first vice prime minister Uladzimir Syamashka said in a statement that Gazprom has ackowledged debt to Belarus. The amount of the debt was discussed in a telephone conversation with Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller and his deputy Valery Golubev. "I have all the grounds, supported by documents, to demand $ 32 million more fro them. They are acknowledging that there are issues", noted Syamashka.
Gazprom and Beltransgaz are expected on June 28 to begin talks in Minsk. After negotiations, thwe sides plan to sign a supplement to the Belarusian-Russian contract for 2010 which will stipulate the rate of gas transit fees.
"We will sign a document with them to stipulate the ackowledgement of debts and the tems when they will pay this money", said Syamashka.
On June 23 Gazprom received from Belarus $187 million for the indebted gas supplies and fulled restored the flow of natural gas to Belarus.
In return, Gazprom wired $228 million for gas transit, but Minsk is demanding $260 million due to differences in how transit fees were calculated, reports Belapan.
