Syarhei Kavalenka engages in information warfare
A Vitsebsk opposition member Syarhei Kavalenka has declared information war on Vitsebsk state editions. The reason for it was the fact that the court had not satisfied his appeal directed against those editions.
Vitsebsk Court has not satisfied Syarhei Kavalenka’s suit against the editorial staff of the “Vitsebsker” newspaper and the head of the City Executive Committee. The activist of the CDP BNF demanded a compensation for moral damage from them. He also wanted to get apologies for the contest of the article “Who feels bad when we feel good” , reports Radio Liberty.
The court thinks that there is no insult or disrespect in the article published shortly after Kavalenka was detained for hoisting a white-red-white flag on the city’s New Year’s Tree. Syarhei Kavalenka says: “I knew my appeal would not be satisfied because this is one system and judges obey to the authorities”.
The article mentioned the name of Syarhei Kavalenka. A journalist of “Vitsebsker” described him as a street hooligan dangerous to the society. The opposition member fundamentally disagrees with it. Kavalenka considers hoisting the flag during mass events a political action and not an act of hooliganism. The activist is sure that political actions should not be mentioned in a disrespectful way.
