Tax inspectors demand to increase salaries of contributors to newspaper

The tax inspectorate has demanded that the editor-in-chief of an independent newspaper “Babruisk Courier” Anatol Sanatsenka should make changes in the editorial staff and increase contributors’ salaries. Tax inspectors explained that it had to be done to fulfill the order of Babruisk City Executive Committee.
The head of the edition asked to present him a written order. However, Sanatsenka was threatened with the fact that they would send information about the edition to the State Control Committee instead, informs the press service of the Belarusian Association of Journalists.

Let us remind you that “Babruisk Courier” had not been able to be distributed in “Union Print” kiosks for more than two years. The edition was returned to kiosks during “the liberalization wave” in July 2009, but economic repressions have resulted in a difficult financial position of the newspaper, stresses the editor-in-chief.
