Tymoshenko accuses Yanukovich of disrupting electoral process in Ukraine
Ukraine's PM Yulia Tymoshenko who is running for the post of the president has accused the Party of Regions of deliberately disrupting the electoral process. "I wish to appeal to the President of Ukraine who still remains the guarantor of the Consitution to react immediately to this situation, to interfere immediately before the country has lost the last features of a civilized democratic country. If this situation persists, one can reckon there will be no elections in Ukraine", Yulia Tymoshenko said today when opening a meeting with the government.
The prime minister explained that massive falsifications are now being organized by the Party of Regions.
According to Tymoshenko, in the Donetsk region controlled by Yanukovich-led party, 11 percent of voters have already filed requests to vote from home. "Those statements were written by a single hand. In essence, all of those requests are sent from the Party of Regions' headquarters", she added.
The prime minister also called on the heads of diplomatic missions in Ukraine asking to analyze the situation in Ukraine and to send reports to their governments.
"I would also like to appeal to the international community, because the head of the state is covering up for the disruption of fair elections and preprations are under way for a massive falsification", the premier stressed.
She described her main rival Victor Yanukovich's actions as cynical , rude and aimed at the destruction of democracy in Ukraine.
Yulia Tymoshenko stressed that the Party of Regions has been preparing falsifications with the help from 8 members of the Central Electoral Authority who "are totally corrupted and bribed by presidential candidate Victor Yanukovich".
