UDF leadership defends drafted activists
The political council of the United Democracy Forces demands that young opposition activists be granted an opportunity to undergo medical checks before being drafted to the army.
The list of those who are under the threat of "political recruitment" inncludes Zmitser Zhaleznichenka, Ales Kalita, Zmitser Salavey. "Special services are also interfering with the drafting of Pavel Batuyeu, Fiodar Charankou, Pavel Kuryanovich, Zmitser Khvedaruk, Artsiom Krutkin, Uladzimir Siarheeyeu", the statement said. Ivan Shyla was illegally prevented from passing the high school exams in 2008. Franak Vyachorka was illegally expelled from the Belarus State University.
Belapan reminds that Shyla has to report to the conscription office on January 23. Vyachorka's dispatchment is scheduled for January 26. The young men filed complaints with a ditrict court, seeking to cancel the illegal decision to draft them to the army, to investigate the violation of their rights and to undergo an independent medical expertise.
