Ukraine detains Belarus-bound train with radioactive ore
When the Budapest-Minsk train arrived for checks at a Ukrainian crossing point at the Hungary-Ukraine border, border guards detected that one of the carriages had three times higher level of radiation than normal. The Ukrainian customs said that the train was detained not because of radiation but because the accompanying documents did not make it clear that Belarus was ready to accept the train.
At the same time, the documents approving the transit of this cargo through Ukraine were in order. There was 57 tons of radioactive ore transported from Italy to Belarus.
The Ukrainian customs said that if the documents were in order, they would have cleared this cargo to Belarus. Meanwhile, the carriages are being put at halt in Hungary.
As soon as all the documents are ready, the train will continue rolling to Belarus, reports Komsomoslkaya Pravda v Belarusi.
