Uladzimir Makei to chair public consultative council

Uladzimir Makei, the head of Belarus president's administration, has become the chairman of a public consultative council under the Office of the President. The new body is expected to work out proposals in order to improve the social, economic and political development of the country. According to the president's press office, the main goal of the council is "to discuss the aute issues associated with the development of the country and society; to develop proposals in order to engae Belarus more atively in the global processes".

The Interfax news agency reports that the public consultative council comprises representatives from various NGOs, political parties and other social and political organization from Belarus.

The members of the councils are reportedly to be revealed after the new structure is officially set up.
