UN Committee's decision on Marynich case directed to "competent authorities"
"We have received the decision of the UN Human Rights Committee on Marynich's case. It will be directed to competent authorities for comments in the nearest days", informed the Press-Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Andrej Savinykh. Let us remind you, that the decision on the complaint of the former Ambassador, the presidential contender at the elections-2001 Mikhail Marynich, has been taken this July at the 99th session of the UN Human Rights Committee. The experts of the Committee confirmed Belarus had broken a series of articles of the International Pact on Civil and Political Rights.
The UN Committee resolved that Mikhail Marynich had been arrested with abuse of discretion, and his right for freedom and personal security had been broken. The same concerns the right for fair consideration of the case by independent and unbiased court. Treatment of Mikhail Marynich has been considered inhuman. The Committee's experts found violation also in the fact that the state media had claimed Mikhail Marynich guilty even before the trial had started.
