University entrants may be asked to sing anthem
The European Radio for Belarus has found out what questions university entrants could expect during interviews for those who wish to study journalism, public administration, law, diplomacy or customs.
Having introduced himself as a school-leaver, a Euroradio correspondent phoned the Belarus State University. The acceptance commission said there were no specific questions. Rather, they would be asked randomly.
ERB: Do you have a list of questions for an interview?
BSU: There cannot be such a list. Questions are random to test the general knowledge.
ERB: I heard that last year those interviewed for journalism course were asked to mention the names of chief editors of the state-run newspapers…
BDU: They may ask or may not. If you work or write for some paper, they might ask.
ERB: I contribute to Narodnaya Volya (opposition daily). Can this play any role?
BDU: I don’t know (laughing).
ERB: Are there any benefits for official youth union activists? I have also joined the union.
BSU: I hope it would not be a minus.
The Mozyr State Pedagogical University which holds interviews for the public administration course has confirmed that the commission will check the level of general knowledge and his or her inclination to the profession. The national anthem may also be part of the general knowledge.
“You may be asked to sing the national anthem, because you can not run the country without knowing your anthem”.
At the Academy of Public Administration under the president, they may ask about the political system of the country and the composition of the Belarusian government.
If you want to enroll for the law course at the Baranavichy State University, questions will be asked by law-enforcement officers.
“They will ask why you choose this profession. Law-enforcement officers, also present at interviews, may ask practical questions: what you would do in this or that situation”.
We remind that applications for interviews are submitted before March 31. Interviews will be scheduled for early Apri.
