US accuses Venezuela of links with Columbian rebels
The United States has accused some members of the Venezuelan government of maintaining links with Colombian rebels. Tomas Shannon from the US Department of State said in a statement that the files retrieved from the computer of a Colombian guerilla commander, seized in March, confirm links of several Venezuelan officials with the rebels, reports Reuters.
On May 10, Spanish newspaper El Pais wrote in a story that Venezuela wanted to sell Belarusian weapons to Colombian rebels.
The newspaper quoted a letter found in a rebel's computer which allegedly mentioned "a Belarusian friend" who was to handle the arms supplies.
Venezuela and Belarus's Security Council denounced these reports as "provocation".
