Utilities bills defaulters may be sent to "public works"
The residents of the Vitsebsk region who have defaulted on their utilities bills could end up being sent to the so called public works, according to a proposal voiced yesterday by Governor Uladzimir Andreychanka. Our local correspondent Yadviga Stasheuskaya reports:
"The authorities in Vitsebsk need to find new ways of recovering utilities debts, because the population has defaulted for over Br8 billion over the past eight months of this year.
It is yet to be decided how defaulters will be forced to clean up streets from rubish or any other public works and whether there will be enough spades and brushes".
