V. Karnyaenka: Authorities conduct another liberalization test

"The authorities have failed one more election campaign liberalization test”, - claimed the coordinator of the campaign “For Free Elections” Victar Karnyaenka commenting on the results of the creation of district election commissions. Karnyaenka criticized the authorities’ methods.
He was surprised at the fact that the former leader of the state Stanislau Shushkevich and former Ministers Alyaksandr Sasnou and Pavel Kazlouski “had not suited” to become members of election commissions.

Victar Karnyaenka also noted that only those representatives of the UCP (there are 35 of them) who worked at state enterprises and had contracts with them had become members of election commissions. It allows the authorities to exercise pressure on them.

The coordinator of the campaign “For Free Elections” thinks that it is necessary to continue working even in this situation in order to display the fact that the elections are not transparent or democratic".
