Victar Kantsavenka goes on hunger-strike to express solidarity with Statkevich
Victar Kantsavenka, a political refugee from Rechytsa lining in Ukraine now, has gone on hunger-strike to express solidarity with Mikalai Statkevich, a former presidential candidate arrested by KGB, informs Radio Liberty. Mr. Kantsavenka was Statkevich’s representative and organized his meetings with Homel Province electors.
Victar Kantsavenka ran for the House of Representatives of the National Assembly as an independent candidate in 2008.
Victar Kantsavenka left for Russia and then for Ukraine where he asked for political asylum after the mass detentions in Minsk Independence Square on December 19 and 20.
Ukraine’s decision on his request for political asylum will be announced this week.
