Victims of Stalin’s repressions are commemorated in Kurapaty

Victims of Stalin’s repressions were commemorated in Kurapaty tract near Minsk. It is a traditional ceremony organized on the 29th day of every month, reminds BelaPAN. Representatives of the Belarusian association of protection of historical and cultural monuments, youth organizations and former victims of repressions took part in the action.  They lit candles and laid flowers on the spot of mass shootings of innocent people and commemorated them with one minute's silence.

Another barbarous act took place in Kurapaty on the eve of the action. Strangers destroyed the copy of the icon of Kurapaty Mother of God painted by Alyaksei Marachkin and broke several crosses. Representatives of the association of protection of monuments think that the barbarous act is the result of the authorities’ negligence.

The ceremony of remembrance was being watched and filmed by 5 representatives of security agencies in the uniform of policemen and in plain clothes.
