Victor Yushchenko dissolves parliament and appoints new election day
Victor Yushchenko has dissolved the parliament – the Supreme Council. The decree was published on the website of the Ukrainian President this morning.
Yushchenko’s reason for the dissolution of the parliament was the break-up of “the orange coalition” that included the bloc of the Prime Minister Yuliya Timoshenko and the presidential coalition “Our Ukraine – National Self-Defense”. Yushchenko dissolved the parliament according to the Constitution denoting the quantitative composition of coalitions.
The new elections will take place on December 7, 2008.
