“War criminals” win elections in Serbian Kosovo
Votes are still being counted in Serbian Kosovo. The elections of Parliament members have finished. The opposition Democratic Party has announced its victory. It is headed by a former field commander Hashim Tachi. He is accused of many crimes against humanity during the uprising in Serbia at the end of the 1990s. Tachi headed the so-called Liberation Army of Kosovo at that time.
He will be able to run for Prime Minister if he wins. International observers note that only about 45% of voters took part in the elections. The thing is the election was boycotted by Serbians living in the north of the region, reports NTV. Serbians are worried by the fact that Muslims in power may declare independence of Kosovo.
