World bank to consider Belarus' loan request this fall

The World Bank board of directors is to make a final decision on a loan to Belarus this fall, said Martin Raiser, head of the WB's office in Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova..
The statement comes after a two-week stay by a team of WB experts in Minsk. Raiser said he hopes that the board will approve the loan intended to support economic reform.

 

Earlier, Pyotr Prakapovich, head of the National Bank of Belarus, said that the government would like to borrow $1 billion from the World Bank, BelaPAN reported.
