World Bank (WB) experts have arrived in Belarus to oversee the beginning of the implementation of a WB-funded project to improve water supply and sanitation services in the country.

The World Bank has provided a loan of $60 million to the Belarusian government under the Water Supply and Sanitation Project. The project is aimed at improving the quality, efficiency and sustainability of water supply and wastewater treatment services for about 1.7 million consumers in six regions. It envisages the modernization and construction of water pumping plants, pipes, water towers and deferrization plants, as well as the modernization of water treatment facilities.
