World Bank likely to make $200mn loan to Belarus
Belarus might receive a $200-million loan from the World Bank for development purposes by the end of this year, World Bank's representative office in Belarus told BELTA news agency. On October 22, Belarus officials held negotiations with the representatives of the World Bank to agree on loan conditions. The loan will be made to Belarus for 16 years with six years of suspended payments. The protocol was signed by Belarus' finance minister Andrei Kharkavets and Pablo Saavedra from the World Bank.
The Bord of Directors of the World Bank is expected to approve a decision about the loan for Belarus in late November.
