World Peace Day marked today

The World Peace Day is marked on September 21. It appeared in our calendars in 1982 according to a decision of the UN General Assembly. The International Day of Peace used to be marked every third Tuesday of September. The General Assembly decided change the day to September 21 in 2002.
The Secretary-General, his messengers of peace, the whole UN system and many different people and organizations from all over the world are taking part in activities aimed at ceasing fire, building up bridges between different cultures and development of tolerance on the International Day of Peace, reports the UN official website.
Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has urged the youth of the world to protect peace with the motto “Youth is for peace and development” this year.
