Yaraslau Ramanchuk promises constitutional referendum within a year

Presidential candidates’ radio speeches have begun this morning, on November 22. Victar Tsyareshchanka and Yaraslau Ramanchuk were the first to make them. Ramanchuk has promised to organize a constitutional referendum within a year if he wins, reports BelaPAN.
According to him, the main issue is restoration of the principle of power division, limiting presidency to two terms and providing the independence of the courts.

The candidate thinks that the country does not need the upper chamber of the National Assembly – the Council of the Republic. According to him, this is not an element of democracy but part of the system of control over the people.

Ramanchuk has announced that Belarus should become a member of the Council of Europe and the World Trade Organization and establish real cooperation with Russia, Ukraine and the European Union.

Vital Rymasheusksi and Ales Mihalevich will make their TV speeches in the evening.
