“Young Front” collects signatures to rename “Lenin Square” underground station

Activists of an intentional organization “The Young Front” collected signatures to rename an underground station “Lenin Square” to “Independence Square” in Minsk on November 7, informs BelaPAN. According to the leader of the organization Zmitser Dashkevich, “The Young Front” is trying to draw the public and authorities’ attention to the necessity of “decommunisation of the country”. Dashkevich thinks that Belarusians’ main problem is Soviet thinking. The Bolshevist ideology killed more people that fascism during the whole World War II but it has not been condemned yet.

“The Young Front” is going to send the signatures collected from citizens to Minsk City Executive Committee. By the way, there have been numerous attempts to rename the subway station “Lenin Square” and it was also done by the city authorities, however, the communist lobby has always blocked the attempts.
