Z. Dashkevіch: Your vote will be counted only in Kalinouski Square

"Malady Front" has announced that it would join the boycott of the elections to the House of Representatives in autumn. The leader of the organization Zmitser Dashkevuch told ERB that Malady Front members took the decision after the Central Election Commission and the President’s Administration had refused to consider any opposition’s suggestions about the democratization of the elections. This is what Dashkevich says:

"It all reminds of a one-man stage play we are not going to take part in. This is why we are urging all citizens to take part in the boycott of the elections which means going to the central Belarusian square – Kalinouski Square – instead of going to polling stations. This is the only place in our country where our votes will be counted and our voices will be heard”.

Zmіtser Dashkevіch thinks that there can be two strategies of the boycott: an absolute boycott and a partial boycott when democrats will withdraw their candidates a few days before the elections and will urge people to come to the square.

The youth activist thinks that the boycott may be successful:

"It could be fruitful. We would deprive Lukashenka of the possibility of making the Parliament legal. You should not forget that he can do it by allowing 2 or 3 opposition members in it. Then he will be able to perform any political speculation like joining Russia with its help”.
