Zyanon Paznyak marks 65th birthday

Zyanon Paznyak, a prominent Belarusian statesman, poet and arts expert, is today celebrating his 65th birthday. He was born in the village of Subotniki, Iuye district. Paznyak is one of the founders of the Belarusian Popular Front. He was also the leader of the Popular Front opposition in the 12th Supreme Council when the pro-Communist majority in the parliament had to accept the declaration of Belarus' independence in August 1991.

Currently, Zyanon Paznyak is a political refugee but continues to head the Conservative Christian Party of the Belarusian Popular Front and publishes his articles in the local and international media.
