Chinese loans will not be used to repair Belarus roads

The Belarusian road authority is in talks with China over loans. But, Alyaksandr Halauneyu, head of road maintenance at Belautodor state company, told Euroradio that even those loans were issued to Belarus, they could not be used to repair the roads damaged by frosts and the heat.
Halaunyeu: “All foreign investments are eligible for new construction projects only. Foreign credits are not issued to repair and maintain roads. We are in talks with the Chinese over new roads. They will not apply to road repairs”.

In 2010, the government earmarked 146 billion rubels for road overhauls.
